The Tinsley Institute is strongly committed to a ‘watch-learn-do’ model of leadership development. Only so much learning can happen in the classroom. Therefore we have developed and continue to develop internships to students and other future leaders to grow in their understanding and to widen the skills base.

About the Evangelistic Preaching Internship Scheme

The Baptist denomination has been known for its evangelistic concern. It has produced a numbers of able evangelists who have faithfully shared the gospel. Now, as always, there is a need for established evangelists to pass on what has been learnt to those who show particular gifting in this area so as to provide for the future.

The Evangelism Intern Scheme has been initiated for this reason: Now is the time to equip students who are already studying theology and God’s Word, for the specific task of itinerant evangelism. We will be inviting two students from Morling College each year to enter the scheme as interns. There, in conjunction with their other studies, they will be trained by gifted and experienced itinerant preachers in the methods, techniques and theology of evangelism.

The students will be expected to fulfil very clear expectations. They will speak evangelistically each week in a variety of places. They will write a number of evangelistic presentations for use at a range of events. They will prepare an evangelism training program for use with local churches. In addition, they will complete related subjects in preaching and/or evangelism at Morling College.
