Tinsley Institute
The Tinsley Institute will operate at three distinct levels:
Missional Leadership
Providing opportunities for training and research in evangelism, church planting, cross-cultural mission, and church growth.
Christian Ethics
Conducting research on a wide range of ethical issues and to provide relevant resources for churches, church agencies and individuals.
Public Theology
Contributing to academic and public policy debates on social and ethical issues from an evangelical perspective.
In order to fulfill this vision, the Tinsley Institute will conduct the following programs and activities:
- academic training in evangelism, mission, ethics and public theology;
- research into methods of evangelism and world mission;
- research into social and ethical issues;
- internships;
- reflection on and examination of postmodern, pluralistic culture;
- research on Baptist history regarding evangelism, world mission, ethics and public theology;
- resourcing existing practitioners of evangelism and mission;
- resourcing the media, the church and the academy on social and ethical issues;
- lobbying state and federal governments on social and ethical issues;
- engaging in various teaching and learning activities including critical thinking, apologetics, preaching and public speaking.
