Leadership Forum at Morling
Friday November 13, 2009
9.30am - 3.00pm
Keynote speaker: John Drane
Acclaimed author, Adjunct Professor in New Testament and Practical Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary, California.
Throughout the Scriptures God reveals his missionary nature and calls the Church to realise mission in its entire life. Australian society has changed remarkably in the last few decades, presenting many challenges for the Church. Many Christian leaders who love the Church deeply are seeking ways to engage in effective Christian ministry and mission.
This Leadership Forum, jointly presented by the Tinsley Institute, the Morling Centre for Leadership and the Inspire Church Planting Network, aims to explore how the Gospel might be contextualised in today’s world through the renewal of personal spirituality and through new approaches to church life and church planting. It includes practical exploration of ways to facilitate this, relevant to the changing culture and grounded in the Bible and the wider Christian tradition. It will explore what it might mean to love God’s Church while passionately pursuing God’s mission.
Starting from real-life stories and experiences, this forum will offer a space to reflect on the key issues facing established churches and church plants in their efforts to reach people with the Gospel of Jesus Christ and build authentic faith communities, while focusing on what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world.
Acclaimed author John Drane, Adjunct Professor in New Testament and Practical Theology at Fuller Theological Seminary, California, will provide practical insight into:
• Recent developments and approaches in effective church planting
• Varied and innovative newer forms of church
• Candid advice on lessons to be learned from recent innovations in church life and planting, for established and newer churches.
This event is supported by the Ministry Support and Development team of the Baptist Churches of NSW and ACT, and can also be included by accredited persons in their Continuing Accreditation Process hours.
