Driscoll & Carson

If you have been listening in on internet discussions of the latest preaching trends, you will be aware that everyone has been throwing around suggestions about who might be the latest best preaching model to draw on. You will also have noticed that in these discussions one name is heard more than any other: Mark Driscoll. It’s a long time since I’ve heard as much discussion about a Biblical preacher.

He will be preaching at our chapel on Tuesday 26th August 2008 at 11:30. Everyone in our Morling/Baptist family is welcome. Seating will be tight so plan to arrive early! Don’t forget KCC has also organised for him to speak at the Entertainment Centre on Wednesday August 27 on the topic, “Burn Your Plastic Jesus.” You might like to book your church group in, as he is a very robust, straight talking preacher.

In the area of Ethics, few books have received the attention of H. Richard Niebuhr’s Christ and Culture. The book takes a constructive look at historical and practical dimensions to how the church has interacted with its community – or in some cases avoided it. Don Carson has taken a fresh look at this question in his recent book, Christ and Culture Revisited. Don will be on campus on Thursday, 4 September, 7:30-9:30, bringing his insights on this topic.  Again, I believe an opportunity not to be missed.

Ross Clifford, Principal

His challenge to us is to be culturally relevant without compromising the gospel and the Bible. (Read more)
