Financial Assistance
Ways students finance their study at Morling include:
FEE-HELP
The Government has introduced a HECS-style government loan scheme known as FEE-HELP to assist Australians fund their theological education through paying student's tuition fees. Morling College students who are enrolled in courses awarded by the Australian College of Theology (ACT) courses may be eligible.
For more information go to www.goingtouni.gov.au. Eligible students attending Morling College will be able to access a loan up to $86,422.00 (2011 Figure) for the course they are undertaking. This loan will then be repaid through the taxation system once the student's taxable income is above a certain threshold. This income threshold is $44,911.00 per annum for the 2010-2011 income year. The threshold rises as the CPI increases.
The Government will charge a 25% loan fee on FEE-HELP for undergraduate courses; however, there is no loan fee for units of study in graduate or postgraduate courses.

Youth Allowance
The DipTh, DipMin, AdvDipMin, Bmin, BTh, BCS, GradDipBM, GradDipCS are Government approved for Youth Allowance for Australian students studying full-time. Details about personal eligibility can be obtained from Centrelink.
Baptist Loans
Student Ministry Personal Loans may be approved for a limited number of full time students from 2nd year of the curriculum provided they intend to proceed to suitable Baptist Ministry. For more information see http://www.bif.com.au/studentsloans.html
Scholarships
Through the generosity of members of the wider Baptist family, limited financial help is available on a needs basis to students. Such scholarships are normally available to students in second year and beyond. Students are advised when application should be made.
Part-time work
Many students work part-time in either pastoral or secular marketplace jobs to support their study. The number of hours it is possible to work part time depends on whether you are studying full or part time. We encourage full time students to allow enough time for their studies. See Part-time Study or Full-time Study for the hours required.
Spouses of full-time students
Spouses of full-time students pay reduced fees and are encouraged to avail themselves of the opportunity to study to the fullest extent their circumstances will permit.
Personal fundraising
You may wish to consider personal fundraising to help support you through College. This includes asking your Church or individuals to support you for your fees and/or living expenses during your time at College. |
