Training for Ministry
Morling College is committed to practically training students for ministry and mission. Involvement in ministry placements is an integral part of preparation for effective Christian service, whether ordained or not. From second year onwards full time students are expected to be actively involved in supervised fieldwork either in a church setting or some other form to gain further
ministry experience.
Field education brings together the various elements of preparation for ministry. It is the opportunity to put into practice in the field, the knowledge, skills and attitudes developed in the classroom. Is a means of integrating theory with the actual practice of ministry using an "action-reflection" model.
Field education provides an opportunity for the student to wrestle with the meaning of the Gospel for our contemporary world and to seek to understand the nature and form of the ministry to which he or she is being called.
The College endeavours to assist students to find appropriate ministry opportunities which will contribute to their ongoing ministry formation. These may be in a range of church or non-church contexts. Many of these are paid positions. A number of intern positions (Evangelism, Church Planting, Urban Mission and World Aid) are also available through the CEGM.
The College does not process applications for training for the ordained Baptist ministry, or for missionary service. Such applicants should approach the General Superintendent of the Baptist Churches of NSW (regarding accreditation) or the Secretary of the Department of Missions (regarding missionary service with Global interAction).
