Master of Arts (Christian Studies) and Graduate Diploma in Christian Studies
The MACS is a two year full time equivalent course designed for students who wish to relate their previous tertiary study, and perhaps employment, to their Christian faith. Students must initially complete the requirements of the GradDip Christian Studies. Admission to the MACS and GradDip Christian Studies requires a non-theological degree from a recognised university.
The GradDip requires completion of eight subjects:
(i) four subjects chosen from Formative Old Testament Traditions, From Israel to Judea, Content and Setting of the Gospel Traditions, Early New Testament Church, The Church to 1550, The Church from 1550 to Modern Times
(ii) three subjects chosen from advanced MDiv subjects, including two subjects in Theology. There is the possibility that MA subjects can be included
(iii) A research project in the field of Integrative Studies
To receive the MACS, the student requires a further four subjects at the MA level (with the possibility that up to two subjects may come from MA(Th) or MA(Min) subjects) including:
(i) at least one subject from the Integrative Studies field
(ii) an independent integrative study project which relates the student’s non-theological studies to their Christian faith (equivalent to at least one subject.)
Students who proceed to the MACS will need to surrender their GradDip upon completion of the MACS. Minimum time of candidature will be two years, the maximum six years. If needed, the required IELTS scores are an average of 6.5, with no score below 6.0.
