Master of Divinity
The MDiv is intended to help prepare men and women for a wide variety of full time ministries in the church and community. It can be completed in three years of full time study or up to nine years part-time. The entrance requirement is a degree in a disciple other than theology. If needed, the required IELTS scores are 6.5 overall with 6.5 in Reading and Writing and no score below 6.0. A limited number of subjects are available at night.
The MDiv requires the completion of 24 semester-length subjects, including:
(i) compulsory subjects:
- New Testament Greek or Biblical Hebrew (each language counts as two subjects)
- Formative Old Testament Traditions
- From Israel to Judea
- Content and Setting of the Gospel Traditions
- Early New Testament Church
- The Church to 1550
- The Church from 1550 to Modern Times
(ii) at least three subjects chosen from:
- TH (Theology),
- CH (Church History) and/or
- PE (Philosophy and Ethics)
of which at least three will be from:
- The Doctrine of God and Work of Christ,
- The Knowledge of God,
- The Doctrines of Grace and Eschatology, or
- Church, Sacraments and Ministry
(iii) at least two Old Testament and two New Testament exegesis subjects including at least two in Greek or Hebrew
(iv) six MDiv subjects in classes consisting of MDiv/GradDip students only (some students may be allowed to attempt MA subjects instead) or four subjects taught under those conditions plus one MDiv Research Project (equivalent to two subjects). The Research Project is required by students who wish to use their MDiv as a pathway to postgraduate research study.
(v) at least two subjects in the fields of EM (Evangelism and Mission), PC (Pastoral and Church Focussed Ministry) and DM (Developmental Ministry)
