Doctor of Ministry
The DMin is a professional doctorate and is designed for those engaged in full-time Christian ministry who wish to undertake advanced study to enhance the practice of ministry in one or more of its many dimensions. It is largely a coursework degree but does involve a substantial piece of research.
Admission to the DMin usually requires at least five years of full time practical ministry after graduating from an initial four years of theological studies such as the BMin(Hons), or MDiv (with overall GPA of at least 2.8 with Distinction grade in the Project). Candidates with an MA (Min) with a GPA of 2.0 or better may be granted one year of advanced standing
in coursework (four subjects).
The award requires satisfactory completion of:
(i) Theological Foundations: the study of foundational theological subjects related to the nature and purpose of Christian ministry.
(ii) Theoretical Foundations and Personal Development: the study of specific subjects related to students' ministry focus, as well as action research and personal development.
(iii) Research presentations with other doctoral candidates and the completion of an individual research project.
The minimum time of candidature is three years (without advanced standing), and the maximum is six years. If needed, the required IELTS scores are at least 7.0 in Reading and Writing, 6.5 in listening and 6.5 in speaking.
