Bachelor of Christian Studies
The BCS provides tertiary students (and recent graduates) with a program of theological studies allowing them to apply a Christian perspective to their professional and academic life. The BCS may be completed by full time or part time study. The minimum period of study is three years and the maximum is nine years.
The entrance requirements are as for the BTh.
The regulations require candidates to complete 24 semester-length subjects including:
(i) compulsory subjects: Formative Old Testament Traditions, From Israel to Judea, Content and Setting of the Gospel Traditions, Early New Testament Church, The Church to 1550, The Church from 1550 to Modern Times
(ii) at least two theology subjects (listed below)
(iii) at least two Old Testament and/or New Testament exegesis subjects
(iv) at least eight subjects of study in a non-theological field such as business, psychology, physical sciences, comparative religions, etc, from an approved educational facility. It is preferable that these be done simultaneously with the theological subjects. Where these subjects contribute to an award from another institution, it is not necessary to surrender that award.
(v) One project of independent study that relates the non-theological area of study to the Christian faith
