Leadership Tracks
Various tracks will and have been developed and coordinated by leaders with a passion and focus on particular Leadership themes. Tracks that have run in the past:
1. Church Health & Transitions Track (CHATT)
Following the inspirational visits of Dr John Kaiser in April & Dr Paul Borden in May 2004, & with the support of the Baptist Union of NSW’s Ministry Support and Development (MSD) Committee, the Church Health & Transition Track (CHATT) commenced at the Centre for Leadership at Morling College.
CHATT was essentially a cluster of up to 12 pastors who have committed themselves to achieving Church Health & Missional priority & success, by means of transitioning their congregation’s values, practices, ministries & leadership towards more conducive models.
The transition process was guided by an in depth assessment & mentoring programme conducted by a trained senior pastor who has demonstrated a proven capacity to successfully lead Church transformation & health. The cluster was made up of 4 churches with an attendance of over 250 people each, & 4 churches with attendances of under 250, with two other Churches showing
interest.
2. Personal Leader Development Track
The track took the form of a 2-year intentional programme that combines the sequencing of intensive conference training events, peer cluster coaching/support gatherings and a recommended reading programme. Each conference introduced new concepts and issues related to leader development, with follow-up learning
and application achieved through the coaching clusters.
The 2 year programme included
• 3 x 2-day Intensives.
• 6 x half-day Coaching Cluster Meetings – 3 per year
• 1 x overnight retreat
• Guided reading and reflection
Outcomes:
Participants in the track were able to
- Focus and internationalize their own development as leaders.
- Utilize leadership development concepts with the leaders they lead.
- Construct learning communities and coach the ongoing growth of the leaders around them.
A 2 year programme has concluded at the end of 2007, and we are exploring other programs with Professor Robert Clinton and Dr Terry Walling on biblically-shaped-leadership, commencing 2009.
