David Starling joined the faculty in 2005 as a part-time lecturer in New Testament, and in 2007 became a full-time member of faculty, teaching New Testament and Theology.
David studied at the University of Sydney and worked as an English teacher in Western Sydney for three years, before completing theological studies at Moore College and Morling College. From 2000-2006 he served as the pastor of Petersham Baptist Church. His PhD studies were at the University of Sydney and his doctoral thesis was on an aspect of Paul’s use of the Old Testament. His first book, Not my People: Exiles as Gentiles in Pauline Hermeneutics (BZNW 184; de Gruyter, 2011), was based on his PhD thesis.
David is married to Nicole, and they have a son, Jacob, and three daughters, Rebecca, Elsie and Lydia.
